CDC Director Robert Redfield, M.D., will travel to Tanzania today, at the request of HHS Secretary Alex Azar following their recent travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Rwanda, and Uganda.

Dr. Redfield plans to meet with Tanzanian health officials and CDC personnel who maintain a long-term staff presence in the country and work closely with the Tanzanian government.

Dr. Redfield will focus on how the U.S. can collaborate with Tanzania to support its efforts to prevent, detect, and respond to infectious diseases. Continued engagement between the United States and country partners is key to the U.S. government’s goal of global health security.
